Visiting on Sunday...

Wow what a wonderful day today was... started the day with church and communion.... then I was invited to a Slovakian home for lunch... It was a little awkward at first but Martin, the son (in the blue shirt) was pretty well versed in the English language so it made it a little easier... Janet went with me (which was really good)... The food was marvelous... chicken noodle soup to start, then a huge plate of food including 2 scoops of rice, cucumber & tomato salad and chicken cordon blu... very very good... afterwards we had homemade cookie bars for desert...

here are the 5 of us after dinner... then Martin took us to the ecco shoe store and to a castle... a lot of climbing and ok, a lot of stairs to climb... and then, did I tell you we had to climb? this old body was tuckered out, but oh what a view!
here's me, Martin and Janet...
and then some views from the castle...

it made for a wonderful day...

Yesterday we drove over to Poland... to Auschwitz, Birkenau and Krakow... The drive was long... (very long)... though I was glad I saw Auschwitz & Birkenau - I wouldn't go back... it was way too depressing... sorry, couldn't get a clear shot without people in the picture - it was so crowded with tourists!

Here is Auschwitz entrance
Train tracks coming into Birkenau. (Schindlers List was based on Birkenau)

Krakow is beautiful... but again a lot of walking... I went to dinner with some of the gals from Martin:

then Dana (pronouced Donna) and I went searching through the booths (but didn't spend any money)

and then caught a picture of one of the steepls of the castle that was smack in the middle of town...
It's been a good weekend... tomorrow we start classes again... I can't believe that half my trip is over already!... --Kim
